Selling teams, boats or something else? Choose per activity what customers book
Set per activity whether customers book participants, teams, boats or something of your own. The right word then shows up everywhere: on your booking website, in the cart and in the confirmation email.
Until now your booking website always asked for a "number of participants" — even when that made no sense. For a tournament's team registration that's confusing: am I signing up myself, or my team? And for a boat rental you really want to know how many boats someone is renting — not how many people they're bringing.
That's why you now choose per activity what customers are actually booking.
What changes for your customers#
Pick team as the booking unit, for example, and that word follows the whole booking:
- The activity page asks "Teams. How many teams would you like to register?" instead of a question about participants.
- The cart shows the quantity as Teams and the price as per team — so nobody has to guess what the amount refers to.
- In the confirmation email, every registration is listed under the right word.
- When filling in details, we ask for the team captain (or contact person for e.g. a boat) instead of a 'participant'.
The same goes for boat or a word of your own. And customers browsing in another language automatically get the right translation: team/teams, boot/boten, boat/boats.
How to set it up#
In the dashboard, open an activity via Listings → Activities and choose under Booking unit what customers book:
- Participant — the default, nothing changes.
- Team or Boat — we handle the translations in every language.
- Custom — enter your own word, per language in singular and plural. Think canoes, SUP boards or pitches.
You don't need to do anything for existing activities: everything stays on Participant until you change it.
