Do parents have to create an account or log in?

No. They click the link and they're in. No password, no invite per email address, no app. That's exactly why the link in your closing email works and a Drive folder doesn't.

Can they download everything, videos included?

Photos download individually, per album as a zip, or the whole event in one zip up to 500 files. Videos download one at a time, they're not in the zip, because a single half-gigabyte file would sink a four-hundred-photo download.

Who can see the board, and what if something's on there that shouldn't be?

Whoever has the link. As long as you leave the album Hidden, nobody sees it, publishing is a separate act after your own check. If one photo does need to go afterwards, you hide that single photo and it disappears from the share page.

Do I know whether they actually looked at the board?

Yes. Per board you see how often it was opened, by how many different visitors, and how many photos were downloaded, including downloads via a zip. That isn't vanity: it tells you whether your announcement landed. If the counter stays low, the mail got stuck and you can send it again. If it keeps climbing in the weeks after, you know your guests are passing your photos around.

Where do I send them?

Every event gets one board with one link. Your guest opens it and sees that event's albums, no account, no password, no invite per email address. One link in your closing email is enough, and it stays valid as long as you keep the board published.

Can I look it over before it goes live?

Uploading and publishing are two separate acts. An album stays Hidden until you switch it to Published. If one photo doesn't belong, you hide that single photo, the album stays up.

How do I get four hundred photos in without babysitting it all evening?

You drop the whole card in and walk away. Files go to storage in 6 MB blocks, and on a hiccup Buchung retries by itself. If the wifi drops or you close the laptop, the upload picks up where it left off, not from file one.

Does this work on someone's phone on the train?

The board doesn't load originals. Every tile arrives sized for the screen it's on; the first twelve are there instantly, the rest arrive as you scroll. Videos in the grid show a still instead of a player, so a four-hundred-file album doesn't eat someone's data.
